About Us

“At MindCalm I firmly believe a wonderful family life is possible. Sessions and treatment plans are delivered with this in mind.”

The aim of MindCalm is to support families, young adults and children affected by anxiety, autism and a PDA (Pervasive Demand Avoidance) profile.

I offer individualised care in a relaxed and warm environment. MindCalm support you as you help your children live healthy, productive lives.

Above all, I make you feel comfortable and understood.

I’m Susann and I’m the Principal psychologist at MindCalm.

I have over 20 years’ experience in the health sector; from child, adolescent and family psychology, child protection and infant mental health to autism and disability services.

In 1999 a strong passion for early intervention led me to train as an Infant Mental Health Specialist. As a result, I cofounded the Infant Mental Health Service back in my home county in Ireland. This pioneering service, run through the Health Service Executive, offered intervention and support to at risk pregnant women, babies and children up 3 years old and their families.

Bring me sunshine

In search of adventure and a better lifestyle (as in less rain), I came to beautiful Perth nearly a decade ago. Initially I worked in the not-for-profit sector, specialising in autism and then in child protection. I went on to cofound the Western Australian Psychology Services (WAPS). I’m incredibly proud to support many children, adolescents and their families on their journey with mild to moderate mental health difficulties.

After living in Australia and operating in the health care system for several years, I realised something fundamental. Parents and young people had little or no understanding how to access support for their mental health concerns. The specialist care required simply wasn’t accessible to them.

I believe everyone has the right to this type of care. In 2015 I set up General Psychology Services to address this.

Today, I work with families across Perth and WA to make their day-to-day life calmer and more manageable.

I support parents on their journey to confident parenting when it comes to anxiety and autism. And I use a variety of methods to help children feel at ease so they can connect in a trusted space.

When I’m not at work I’m the 24-hour on call uber for my two teenage children.
